Bonnie Folkins has studied at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada and at the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy.

Her traditional painting style, using both watercolours and oils, focuses on classical design and colour principles. From nature, she seeks the momentary effects of moving shadows and cast light.

She has traveled widely to paint. In particular, she has worked in Italy, Hong Kong & Macau, Spain & Portugal, Australia & New Zealand, and the Azores, as well as yearly trips to the Adirondacks in New York State and her beloved Atlantic Canada. Included here is a portrait collection of the Romany People of Northern Portugal.

Folkins' work is represented in corporate collections and in eight universities including McGill University. She has exhibited in Canada, the United States, Portugal and Italy.
